Praying With Scripture

Pray The Word?

Prayer is one of the most beautiful expressions we can exercise within the kingdom of God. It allows us to connect on a personal level with our Heavenly father who is caring for us, providing for us, blessing us, and leading us even in trying circumstances.

Why Pray With Scripture?

The God we serve is generous. Because of Gods generous provision, protection and care we have nothing that we lack. There are times however when we feel like we do not have what we need and Jesus reminds his disciples to "ask and you will receive" as well as to "knock until he opens", in other places we are asked to "pray without stopping". I resonate with the person who struggles to know what to say or how to say it.... but that doesnt mean that you should do nothing, it simply means you should try something new.

How Do I Pray Scripture?

It is quite simple, read this passage (or any passage) every day. Each day try to remember one piece of it(paraphrase) until you carry each piece of it with you.

Carry and Pray Psalm 103 with you as you Go this week…. Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless his holy name! Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, 3 who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. 9 He will not always chide, nor will he keep his anger forever. 10 He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his steadfast love toward those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far does he remove our transgressions from us. 13 As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. 14 For he knows our frame;[a] he remembers that we are dust.

15 As for man, his days are like grass; he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 for the wind passes over it, and it is gone, and its place knows it no more. 17 But the steadfast love of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear him, and his righteousness to children's children, 18 to those who keep his covenant and remember to do his commandments.

How Does this Psalm EMPOWER my soul?

This Psalm speaks about the true narrative of God. He is generous, kind and protective. When we let the truth of that narrative wash over us it begins to become our narrative and the language that we use to describe God and even our circumstances changes. If you truly pray this genuinely, it can change the way we see suffering and it draws us closer to the true goodness of God.
