Copy of E3 Group Sermon Questions

Dive in: Open in a prayer. Then talk as a group about This month’s EMPOWERING practice “Give Generously” and if you were able to practice it this week. Were you able to Try our weekly discipline? If you failed or struggled talk about what may have led to that failure.


Read: Luke 14:7-11 & 25-33 (consider breaking up the passage among the group)


Dig Deep: *It is more important that you talk, than if you finish*

Question 1: When we look at the work that needs to be done in the kingdom. What are the ways it is easier to surround ourselves with what is familiar and do what is expected?


Question 2: Who in your life do you feel personifies the people Jesus urges us to invite to the table (sick,needy,lame,blind..etc)?


Question 3: When Jesus challenges the crowd to "abandon/hate" all these precious things in life, He is really illustrating the danger of focusing your attention on physical life. How does this challenge you in your personal life?


Question 4: Read Luke 14:34-35. Discuss how a "good" thing in life can loose its goodness if we loose focus on how it pertains to leading others


Question 5: How does Jesus teaching here challenge the way you see the good things in life?


Walk It Out: This week we are focused on “Listeningand how that pertains to Give Generously. Jesus has freely invited us to come to experience the empowering practices we see in his ministry. One of the ways we can do this is by choosing to practice "Listening" in your daily walk with Jesus.
